Overview:

This add-on hardcut limiter software plugs directly into the original ECU firmware and lets you customize your bikes hardcut behavior purely for fun and sound.
You can freely set your ignition Cut RPM High and RPM Low values to control limiter speed.
If you want even more playful effects, you can enable ignition retard, with adjustable Retard RPM High, Retard RPM Low and ignition retard angle.

The software also includes an optional "Enablement gear check": the hardcut software activates only if the engine is started in the gear you choose in the configuration beforehand.
Start the bike in a different gear, and the limiter stays off. Start it in the correct gear, and it remains active in all gears until the engine is restarted.

On the newer bikes (SXF23+ / EXC24+) the hardcut software can be additionally toggled via the TC button

Simple and built entirely for fun — dial in the sound and behavior you like and enjoy the ride.

Limiter speed:

We use a simple hysteresis system to determine limiter speed.
A larger difference between HIGH and LOW values resulting in a slower limiter and vice versa.
Here is an example of a 9500 RPM limiter with different hysteresis (LOW) values:

Fast limiter

Faster limiter (200 rpm hysteresis)

Slow limiter

Slower limiter (500 rpm hysteresis)

Ignition retard:

Ignition retard shifts the combustion timing towards the exhaust stroke.
This helps build the heat needed for ignition inside the exhaust manifold.

NOTE: This may damage the valve stem seals and the valves themselves!

Sequence while revving up:

  • The RPM crosses the "RETARD HIGH" threshold
    IGNITION RETARD ACTIVATED
  • The RPM crosses the "CUT HIGH" threshold
    IGNITION CUT ACTIVATED

Repeating sequence:

  • The RPM crosses the "CUT HIGH" threshold
    IGNITION CUT ACTIVATED
  • The RPM drops below the "CUT LOW" threshold
    IGNITION CUT DEACTIVATED
  • Repeating as long as the throttle is held ...

Sequence while revving down:

  • The RPM drops below the "CUT LOW" threshold
    IGNITION CUT DEACTIVATED
  • The RPM drops below the "RETARD LOW" threshold
    IGNITION RETARD DEACTIVATED

Configration:

The configuration is done via TunerPro XDF after flashing custom firmware onto the ECU.

No changes to the fuel or ignition maps are necessary as this custom module overrides all the mandatory values at runtime!
